I’ve been looking at the 4 final designs for the New Zealand flag today, and thought to myself, if they had been designed in the past, how would they have looked for the present day point of view?

So I took an image from my www.oldphotos.co.nz collection of the Flag Pole at Waitangi which was photographed displaying the Union Jack, and photoshopped in the 4 designs.

History tells us that when people are unhappy with the flag being hung from that particular flagpole, it gets chopped down. I wonder if it will survive if one of these alternative designs is eventually chosen?
